As Halloween looms, we are preparing ourselves for what will be the most surreal 31st October we've experienced since 1985. Can you believe it? Thirty-five years of ghoulish endeavours in the Old Town of Edinburgh on what was always our busiest night of the year.
Without wishing to state the thunderingly obvious, Halloween 2020 will be a little different. (I fear I may have stated the thunderingly obvious.) No, Halloween 2020 will, like Halloween H20, be a significant departure from previous Halloweens (or from films that are not terrible in general).
In order to maintain appropriate physical distancing on our walks, our tours will be limited to a maximum capacity of 15 persons. In line with Scottish Government regulations, we are limiting the number of people who can book in a single party to 6 (from no more than two households). Children under 12 years of age do not count towards this limit. Please note this is different from "children" in our pricing, which applies to those under 16 years of age. Due to these restrictions (Apart from Halloween week) we are only running public tours on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday evenings.
If you have previously attended one of walking tours on Halloween, it will most likely have been on the Witchery Murder and Mystery Tour. Unfortunately, we are currently unable to offer the Murder and Mystery Tour, as this tour visits some rather enclosed spaces, which is not a very wise proposition at this moment in time. However, we can offer the Greyfriars Cemetery Tour and the Witchery Ghosts & Gore Tour. Both these tours visit areas more conducive to physical distancing.
So, Halloween week looks like this:
Thursday 29th October
The Greyfriars Cemetery Tour at 2pm and the Ghosts & Gore Tour at 7pm.
Friday 30th October
The Ghosts & Gore Tour at 7pm.
Saturday 31st October (Halloween)
The Greyfriars Cemetery Tour at 2pm and the Ghosts & Gore Tour at 5pm and 7pm.
Sunday 1st November
The Greyfriars Cemetery Tour at 2pm and the Ghosts & Gore Tour at 7pm
All these tours are available for booking right now (subject to availability) on our booking page.
If ghostly demand exceeds ghostly supply we will endeavour to add extra trips to our schedule. If you are looking for something outwith this schedule, please get in touch and we'll see if something can be arranged.
Of course all of this is dependent on whether there will be any further restrictions announced by the Scottish government. Presently we can operate our tours but no one can predict the future (not even our resident witch, Agnes Fynnie). So, Keep checking our website for updates.
Happy Halloween!
